Academy Rules

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to any scheduled class.
  • Absolutely no shoes on the mat.
  • Always greet the Instructor upon entering the mat (hand shake).
  • Don’t leave the mat without notifying the instructor.
  • Keep quiet while Instructor demonstrates techniques.
  • Personal cleanliness is essential. Long hair must be tied back, nails must be clipped, hands and feet clean.
  • Keep your uniform clean by washing it after every class according to the intensity level of your work out.
  • When entering the mat area, always wear gear that is clean with no rips, tears, holes or stains.
  • Absolutely no food or drink allowed inside the gym (except bottles with cap).
  • Do not walk around without a shirt on outside the locker rooms.
  • No foul language will be tolerated.
  • Talking should be kept to a minimum level and should relate to the class subject.
  • All metal objects, jewelry, piercing, necklace or other such items should be removed for your safety.
  • Do not call Instructor out to spar. It is disrespectful.
  • The higher your belt, the more seniority you have. Know your place on the mat.
  • Sparring is always optional. It is only allowed with Instructor approval and with full protective gear.
  • When sparring, take into account that size and experience matter. Sparring must be a learning experience, where both athletes learn from.
  • If you have any injuries or health concerns, notify the instructor and know your limits.
  • Put pagers and cell phones on vibrate.
  • Help others improve whenever you can. When everyone improves, you improve.
